CIP’s Highgate Newtown Community Centre wins a Housing Design Award

The Community Investment Programme’s creative regeneration of Highgate Newtown Community Centre (HNCC) has been recognised with a Housing Design Award.

Located in Dartmouth Park near Highgate, this project transformed the old community centre into 36 new council homes and a new state-of-the-art community centre that includes a flexible-use sports hall, restaurant area, and a lounge which hosts a hairdresser, laundrette, and a cookery school.

At the awards ceremony on September 4, Judges praised the ‘playful and cohesive design’ which helps to bring communities together, as well as the ‘spacious and inviting’ courtyard to ‘enhance connectivity, improve safety, and increase foot traffic to community facilities’. Winning this award highlights the power of collaborative regeneration that comes through CIP, and the lasting impact it can have on local communities across Camden.
