Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Camden

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (D of E) gives young people aged 13 – 24 of all abilities the chance to develop skills for life and work, fulfil their potential and have a brighter future. The award is made up of activities for young people that encourages them to get fitter, learn new skills, help others by volunteering and experience real adventure.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s award has three levels – Bronze, Silver and Gold. The Bronze and Silver awards are made up of four sections:

  • physical - take part in a new or existing physical activity for one hour a week

  • skills - take part in a new or existing skill for one hour a week

  • volunteering - volunteer for a local non-profit organisation, community group or individual

  • expedition - walking and camping journey lasting two days and one night in open countryside

The Gold award has the same sections as Bronze and Silver plus an extra section:

  • residential - join an organised project for 5 days and 4 nights away from home with a new group of young people

The amount of time you need to take part in these activities will depend on which award level you are trying to achieve.  For more information on the timescales, visit dofe.org
