Better Leisure Centre Pay-as-You-Go Membership

A great way to reduce costs to being active in Camden leisure centres is to get a pay-as-you-go annual membership. For Camden residents, an annual concessionary membership costs £3.25 for children and £6.30 for adults, a standard membership costs £6.55 for children and £49.50 for adults.

GLL Athlete Support Programme 2023

The Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) Sports Foundation Award 2023 

The UK’s largest independent athlete support programme for new applicants is now closed for 2023 and will reopen again in 2024. 

Talented athletes from across 65 areas across the UK are invited to apply for a range of support awards which include financial support, access to sport facilities, physiotherapy, lifestyle mentoring and mental health support. 
 

What to know

  • The innovative scheme is provided by charitable social enterprise GLL and expects to award £1.2m worth of help in 2023 for successful applicants.

  • All successful applicants will be given access to the 250 sport and leisure facilities across the UK operated by GLL under its “Better” trading brand.

  • Receive the follow support package awards in aid of your athletic development; financial support, access to sport facilities, physiotherapy, lifestyle mentoring and mental health support.

  • Applications are now closed for 2023. The next opportunity to apply for GLL Athlete Support programme will be 2024.

6 Month Free Camden Better Membership

6 Month Free Camden Better Leisure Centre Memberships

Better Leisure, Camden’s Leisure Centre operator would like to offer the opportunity for all refugees granted asylum in the UK in the last 12 months free use of Camden Leisure Centres for 6 months. 

Camden’s Leisure centre offer a range of physical activities and wellbeing opportunities. Including gym and fitness, swimming, exercise classes as well as individual sports and wellness activities. All leisure centres are welcoming and have excellent facilities and friendly staff. 


There are two types of free memberships available:
One membership is for adults (16+ years), a Better Health Centre (off-peak) membership which includes gym, fitness classes, sports facilities and swimming pools.

The other membership is for children (under 16 years), a Better Health Centre Junior membership which includes junior gym, junior fitness classes and swimming. All free memberships will last for 6 months from the date of sign up.

Become as Swimming Teacher or Lifeguard

Would you like to become a qualified swimming teacher?

Better Leisure have vacancies available to support you into employment in the sport sector. 

Camden Better Leisure currently have positions available as Recreation Assistants (Lifeguards) and Swimming Teachers.  Better Leisure will provide all the training and qualifications you need and is completely funded, including the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) for lifeguards, and the STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming if you want to join their team of Swimming Teachers. 

Being a Swimming Teacher or a Lifeguard is rewarding, as you’ll be helping others to achieve their potential in swimming. 


Better Leisure are looking for applicants who are: 

  • Over 16years old 
  • A competent swimmer 
  • Willing to learn and commit to a 5-day intensive training course


For Swimming Teachers, you’ll also need to be:

  • A good communicator (verbal and non-verbal)
  • A good motivator (supportive and able to give feedback)
  • Approachable and patient in nature
  • Imaginative
