Maitland Park - CIP

Maitland Park

  • Ward:  Gospel Oak
  • Key Features: 119 spacious homes, including 52 affordable council homes, new community hall and play areas.
  • Completed: 2023

The 119-home redevelopment has replaced an outdated 1960s block, drawn on underutilised land on the estate to increase the number of council homes from 36 to 52, and provided a new community centre, play area, and improved green spaces. The new sustainable homes are more spacious, helping to tackle overcrowding in the local area.

Each of the three new residential buildings were named by the local community after prominent figures from Camden: Noor Inayat Khan, the first female spy who was dropped behind enemy lines in France during the Second World War; Mary Prince, the first black woman to have an autobiography published in Britain; and Antony Grey, an LGBTQ+ Activist whose work led to decriminalization of homosexuality for men.
