Council homes

We’re building 1,100 much needed new and replacement homes for council rent. There will be no loss of council homes in Camden - more homes will be built under the CIP.

Local residents who move away to make way for development or continue to live within the development have first priority on the new homes. The remaining new homes are offered to those on the Council's housing register.

Over the last few years, residents have moved into Chester Balmore, which was the first set of new council homes we’ve built for nearly two decades. People have also moved into Maiden Lane, Agar Grove and Abbey Road, with some moving out of overcrowded accommodation into homes with more space. More residents will soon benefit from the hundreds of new homes currently under construction at sites across the borough.

Thousands of existing council homes are being refurbished across the borough through funding from the CIP, as part of the Council’s Better Homes Programme. This will ensure that our tenants live in good quality accommodation.
