Greenwood

Run by disabled people for disabled people, the Greenwood Centre is Camden’s first Centre for Independent Living offering activities and services to local residents will all kinds of care needs. The development includes:

  • Modern facilities for Camden’s day centres
  • Multi-sensory garden spaces
  • Art rooms and a music studio
  • Space to hire for community groups and social enterprises

This unique project brings Camden’s day centres under one roof so residents can access a range of support, make friends and take steps towards living independently.

The building includes special adaptations to cater to particularly complex needs ensuring services are inclusive. The Camden Society also run a café, providing training and apprenticeships to disabled adults.

In 2019, Construction News named the Greenwood Centre as their Project of the Year. The jury commented on the building’s sustainable design, but also the work to include residents who would eventually use the building when it was complete.

This included tours of the site whilst it was under construction, as well as transition sessions between old and new facilities for those with more complex needs.
