Abbey Road - CIP

Abbey Road

Abbey is one of the most ambitious schemes of the Community Investment Programme. The development includes:

  • 280 new energy efficient homes, including 112 Council homes and 168 homes for private sale or rent
  • New community and health facilities
  • Improved open and play spaces
  • Infrastructure and transport improvements

Phase 1 of the development was completed in 2019 and provided 66 new council homes for local residents.

Managed by the Abbey Road Housing Co-operative, residents have played a central role in the development, providing suggestions and working closely with the council to ensure the new homes meet local peoples' needs.

The project also delivered a new supermarket and two other shops, as well as an underground car park – all funded by 75 homes for sale.

Phase 2 of Abbey is currently under construction and will deliver a new Health and Community Centre, new public realm and landscaping, infrastructure and transport improvements as well as a further 100 new homes. You can read more about Phase 2 here.

In November 2021, the Team began consultation for Phase 3 of the project. To find out more and to have your say, please visit the Abbey Road development Phase 3 virtual exhibition here.
